To create and run an account we collect a name, email address, phone number, a Career Lender student ID, and a password stored only as a cryptographic hash — we cannot read it, and nobody at Career Lender can tell you what it is.

To show the right content we hold the student's class, stream, subject combination and school, and the academic year. A Class 9 student and a Class 11 student are shown different things, and this is how we know which is which.

We record what the student does on the platform: quiz and assessment results, saved items, project work, progress through material, points and badges, and which pages were opened. This is what makes the dashboard and the reports work.

Conversations with CLAIRA, our career assistant, are stored so the student can return to them and so we can check the assistant is answering responsibly.

Where a counselling session is recorded, the recording and its transcript are stored against the student's record. Recordings are made only with consent.

Psychometric assessments are part of the platform a parent signs up to. Where a student belongs to a school, the school decides whether each one runs for its students. The results are shown to the student, their parent, their counsellor and their school.

For payments we store what was bought, when, how much, and the payment and order reference returned by Razorpay. We never see or store card numbers, UPI IDs, CVVs or bank credentials. Those go directly to Razorpay, who are PCI-DSS compliant, and never reach our servers.

A student's information can be seen by the student; by their school's counsellors, teachers and administrators where the student belongs to a school on Career Lender; by a parent where a parent account has been linked; and by Career Lender staff where their role requires it. A school can only ever see its own students, and this is enforced in the software, not by policy alone. Every staff access is written to an audit log.

We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use a student's work to advertise to them.

On servers in Mumbai, India, operated by Hostinger. We use Razorpay for payments and Hostinger for email. Each sees only what it needs to do that job.

A student's academic record is kept while they are on the platform and for 3 years after the account closes, so a student returning after a gap does not lose their history. Audit logs are kept for 7 years.

A parent or guardian may ask to see everything we hold about their child, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete the account and its data. Write to contact@careerlender.com from the address on the account, or ask the school. We respond within 30 days.

We do not knowingly create accounts for children outside Classes 6–12 without a school or a parent involved, and we do not profile children for advertising.

If this policy changes materially we will say so on this page and notify account holders by email.
